As a Board Certified general neurologist, Dr. Barrett treats all types of neurological disorders. She particularly enjoys performing EMG/NCS to diagnose conditions such as carpal tunnel, peripheral neuropathy, cervical, and lumbar radiculopathy (i.e., a pinched nerve in the neck or lower back). In addition, she has specialized training in using Botox to treat migraines and chronic neck or lower back pain.
Dr. Barrett graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. During medical school, she studied neurology at the famed “Queen’s Square” in London. She also spent a summer working at a hospital in Jamaica. Dr. Barrett attended Smith College as an undergraduate, where she earned a BA in Honors Psychology. She performed neuroscience research concerning the thalamus, one of the deep structures of the brain. She also spent a summer at Kennedy Space Center studying aerospace medicine. Dr Barrett’s goal with each and every patient is to take the time needed to ensure they understand their healthcare and are comfortable at all times. She understands that there is not a “box” solution for all patients, and each patient needs individual care and has their own set of concerns. Dr. Barrett’s goal is to make sure those concerns are met and the patient is receiving state of the art healthcare.
